Being part of SASE ( St. Andrew School of Evangelization ) has given me a wonderful opportunity to deepen my faith and given me a love of God’s Word to us, His people.
My first weekend experience was on the Emmaus Course. I loved the content and the beautiful Gospel story. The music was wonderful, as many people from Kemptville led us in praise and worship of our God.
I stumbled and fumbled to seek references in scripture. I also felt awkward with no table to balance the materials on. I felt inadequate in the scramble to read the Word and to be sure that I took a turn as we were encouraged to participate.
I have come a long way since then. Now I begin my morning with the reading of the day from Living With Christ. I also love looking the readings up in my Bible.
Since Easter 2014, I truly have felt a deeper understanding that this is God’s Word to us. I long to read our story and appreciate the thread that runs through God’s Word. Being retired now, I have the time to sit peacefully and reflect, then attend morning Mass and hear the Word proclaimed as I listen and better absorb the message for the day. “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
I now feel that only hearing God’s Word on Sunday is too little for me, when I am able to sit with the Word more often. Although I did do morning readings and reflections before, His Word is now first and foremost in my reading.
