Since taking over the reins of the Church, Pope Francis has continually encouraged us to meet Jesus in the confessional. He sets the example for us. “When I go to confession, it’s for healing: healing the soul, healing the heart because of something that I did to make it unwell.”
On Wednesday, March 2nd, the Diocese is hosting a Day of Confessions in four of our parishes:
St. Peter’s and Sainte-Thérèse in Cornwall,
Our Lady of the Angels in Moose Creek and
St. Finnan’s in Alexandria.
During last year’s Day of Confessions hundreds of people took advantage of God's mercy and forgiveness. Some had been to confession the previous week and some had not been in years. But all left knowing God loved them.
During this Special Jubilee Year of Mercy, I urge you to set aside your fear and trepidations and turn to the Good Lord in all His mercy. Enter into the sacrament of reconciliation and renew your relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd who seeks out the lost.
To help you prepare, the Diocese has a number of resources available. On the diocesan website you will find times and locations, answers to your frequently asked questions, an examination of conscience as well as great videos and links. We are also making available, free of charge, the CD “The Healing Power of Confession” by Dr. Scott Hahn, which can be picked up at Our Lady of the Angels in Moose Creek, Shalom House in Alexandria or the Catholic Information Centre (146 Chevrier) in Cornwall. And, of course, the priests will guide you along.
