TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE DIOCESE
With the help of the clergy and the diocesan pastoral team, we have created both a mission statement and a vision statement for the diocese. On this day of Pentecost 2015, I would like to present our work to you. I invite you to read it and meditate upon it and to help put it into practice in our daily diocesan life. I pray that the Holy Spirit aids us in our witnessing of hope in Jesus Christ to transform the world.
Witnessing to our hope, this is my dream as shepherd of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall during this 125th anniversary year of our founding. I pray that it is also your dream, so that together we can rekindle our faith in Jesus Christ, that we can encounter Him in daily prayer, in the study of our faith, in the hearing of the Word of God and in the love that we have for one another.
In our vision statement, we speak of being a faith community that forms disciples of Christ, however to accomplish this we must first and foremost each be a disciple of Christ engaged in a personal relationship with Him. Once we have encountered Christ we learn to be more like Him, sure of our faith, grateful to the Father, compassionate and merciful toward others, and generous in service to our brothers and sisters. This is our plan to help us answer the call of Pope Francis to be joyful witnesses of our faith in the Resurrection of Jesus and to be missionary disciples in our milieu.
Be assured of my prayers and blessings.
