MESSAGE TO THE FAITHFUL
Dear faithful of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall:
I thank you for your patience and your prayers. Today, I present to you the fruit of the work of the Diocesan Personnel Committee who helped me prepare the list of pastoral appointments. We have spent several months discerning, consulting and working out various scenarios, while always keeping in mind the greater good of the parish communities and the well-being of our priests.
You will understand that there is no perfect scenario that will please everyone. I am conscious that by moving a priest, I make some people happy while I displease others. The departure of a priest from a parish is never easy and for some among you, I know it will cause sadness and perhaps even frustration. It will be important to live this process of grieving in faith and serenity. In spite of the fact that change can be difficult, we also know that change can bring innovation, new challenges and new opportunities to grow and surpass oneself.
This year is extraordinary because of the many changes; 18 parishes are affected and 11 priests are called to serve elsewhere or in a different capacity. This being said, I trust that with your collaboration and your support, you will be there to accept and encourage the priest assigned to you. I thank you in advance for your patience during the adjustment period which is part of any change.
I assure you of my prayers and of my blessing.
Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall
