This past Saturday, December 10th, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness, ordained 36 Legionaries of Christ to the priesthood in the Basilica of St. John Lateran. More than 3,000 people including family members, friends, fellow seminarians and superiors attended. In his homily Cardinal Parolin said that the vocation of these new priests “has but one source: the reality of being seekers of God, who have allowed themselves to be conquered by him…” Many of you will remember that the Legion had a noviciate in our Diocese until just a few years ago. On a personal note, my brother Father Timothy Walsh, LC will celebrate 10 years of priestly ordination on the 23rd!
One of the very best ways to get ready for Christmas is to attend the sacrament of reconciliation. Check with your parish for both the regular and special confession times. In addition, there are many penitential services throughout the Diocese.
Whether or not you regularly avail yourself of the sacrament of reconciliation, you will enjoy this “refresher” video.

In December 9th we read the story of Mary’s apparition to Saint Juan Diego. And hopefully you have cooked something Mexican to celebrate today’s Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Today, we invite you to take a virtual tour of the church (including Saint Juan Diego’s tilma) that Mary had asked to be built: the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is located in Mexico City, the most visited Marian shrine in the world! Click on the photo to begin your tour.
